Sean Charles the Label

Sean Charles started in 2009 as an online clothing store. In the spirit of working with his most current inspiration, designer Sean Charles, decided to create a line of t-shirts inspired by classic salsa called, Latin Vintage. A new salsa enthusiast and dancer himself, he really began to appreciate the classic salsa rhythms. Sean is also a big fan of “on the spot” creativity, so he decided to add an innovative touch to his clothing. Sean explains, “Instead of doing it on a table while a customer waited I worked on mastering the techniques of doing cuts on the body.” Thus, the sensual creations that are custom cut to your body began. Sean Charles drew in quite a fascinated crowd at both the 2009 and the 2010 Rochester Puerto Rican Festival. From there, online sales have continued to grow both in and outside of the United States.

The clothing line originally began with t-shirts and has quickly grown into much more. In 2010, Sean Charles introduced Street Couture dresses at Rochester Fashion Week. The dresses, inspired by women of a legendary Brazilian tribe, are a mixture of cutting techniques, expertise in working with cotton, and a touch of couture inspiration to create something new and on the cutting edge of fashion.
